The Arduino 4 Relays Shield is designed to enable your Arduino board to drive high power loads that are beyond the capacity of Arduino’s digital I/Os due to current and voltage limits. It includes four relays capable of handling a maximum load of up to 48V. Each relay provides two pole changeover contacts (Normally Open and Normally Closed) which have been put in parallel to increase the current limit of each output. The shield also features four LEDs to indicate the on/off state of each relay, enhancing user interaction by providing visual feedback.
Specifications:
- Thinker Kit interface : 2x TWI, 2x OUT, 2x IN
- Interfaces with Arduino Board : DIO
- Relays : 4 (60W)
- Operating Voltage : 5 V
- Current needs : 140 mA (with all releays on, about 35 mA each)
- PCB Size : 53 x 68.5 mm
- Weight : 0.044 Kg
- Single pole chargeover contact maximum current : @ 30 V DC 2A
- Maximum load voltage : 48 V
- Maximum switching capacity : 60 W
- Power : The shield doesn’t need external power: it will be provided by the base board, through the 5V and 3.3V pins of the Arduino board used as base.
- Compatibility with 5V operating voltage, ensuring it can work seamlessly with standard Arduino boards.
- Evaluation Kit status, suggesting it’s designed for testing and development, making it ideal for both hobbyists and professionals looking to prototype with high power loads.
- The shield follows the RoHS compliance, indicating it meets certain environmental standards by restricting the use of specific hazardous materials found in electrical and electronic products.

Applications and Projects:
.
- Home Automation Projects: The Arduino 4 Relays Shield can be integral in home automation systems. For example, using the Arduino UNO R4 WIFI, you can create a local web-server based system to control appliances in your home. This project leverages the Arduino Uno R4 WiFi board along with a custom shield to control two relays through a local web server, allowing for remote control of home appliances.
- Control Devices with Buttons: Another project example involves using the 4 Channel Arduino Relay with buttons. This tutorial guides you through controlling the relays using four buttons, which can be applied to various practical scenarios, such as turning lights on/off or controlling other household appliances. The project is designed to be accessible even for beginners and uses Visuino, a graphical development environment for Arduino, to simplify programming.
- A Variety of Control Applications: The versatility of the Arduino 4 Relays Shield allows it to be used for controlling high-power devices like actuators, pumps, LED strips, light bulbs, and fans. It’s especially handy for projects where direct wiring is inconvenient or infeasible, offering compatibility with Arduino Uno, Uno Wifi, Mega, and now the Uno R4 with its WiFi capabilities.
